Frozen Roses (2023)

2023
Preserved flower installation

This installation features real roses that have been preserved through specialized techniques. Each flower, though no longer biologically alive, retains its original form. The petals, stems, and roots have been carefully dyed white, creating a uniform surface that quiets the natural variation of the plant.

The work originated from a curiosity about preservation practices—specifically, how flora and fauna are treated after disappearing from the natural world. Drawing on the language of taxidermy and botanical specimen conservation, the piece contemplates the boundaries between life and memory, natural presence and artificial stillness.

By transforming living material into a controlled, suspended state, the installation invites reflection on the urge to hold onto what is vanishing—and the aesthetic, emotional, or scientific frameworks through which we attempt to do so.
