3rd, 4th Leaves is a continuation of my earlier work Cloudy, shifting the focus from spatial memories to tactile, object-based recollections. The video traces a process of reconstructing images of dried leaves I collected from a neighborhood park in Slovenia during an artist residency.
At first, the original photograph of the leaf appears clearly on screen. As the frames progress, the image undergoes a transformation—becoming increasingly dense in detail. Unlike a typical restoration process that attempts to recover a damaged image to its original form, this work inverts that logic: the image begins intact and gradually deteriorates.
By the end, the original photograph is almost unrecognizable. This visual degradation reflects the way memories of touch, landscape, and emotion—once vivid—gradually shift and fade with time.
